PROJECT GUIDE
Artwork Layout: All-over Repeat & Placement Prints
Decide how the artwork should appear on the finished bag. A repeat pattern and a positioned graphic need different layout instructions, even when they use the same print method.

PROJECT CONSIDERATIONS
Two ways to organise the artwork
An all-over repeat uses a repeating artwork unit across the defined area. A placement print positions a graphic in a specified location. These describe the intended layout; neither name confirms which printing method will be used.
For either approach, define the visible panels and the parts that should remain unprinted. A mock-up is a communication tool until its scale, position and relationship to the bag construction have been reviewed.
General process guidance. Availability, material suitability, sample scope and production arrangements are confirmed for each project.
PROJECT CONSIDERATIONS
All-over Repeat Print
For All-over Repeat Print, specify the repeat size, direction and the areas to cover. Explain whether individual motifs may fall in different positions, or whether a particular motif must be controlled.
PROJECT CONSIDERATIONS
Placement Print
For Placement Print, specify the graphic size and its reference points on the bag. Distances from an agreed edge, panel centre or seam are more useful than a description such as near the top. Show front, back, side and pocket artwork separately where needed.
PROJECT CONSIDERATIONS
Plan for seams, folds and openings
Ask how the print plan relates to cutting and assembly. Identify any motif that must not be cropped and any join where continuity matters. Discuss practical placement variation and how it will be judged; this guide sets no universal tolerance.
An edge-to-edge mock-up does not confirm uninterrupted printing over every seam, handle or opening. If matching across adjoining panels is important, include it as an explicit requirement for review rather than treating it as an automatic feature of all-over printing.
PROJECT CONSIDERATIONS
What to prepare
Provide the artwork version, repeat tile if available, intended dimensions and a labelled placement drawing. Add the bag reference, panel information and critical no-crop areas. State which layout decisions can change and which are fixed by brand requirements. Technical file preparation and the production template should be agreed before artwork is treated as ready.
PROJECT CONSIDERATIONS
Approve scale and position together
Review the design at the intended size and against the proposed bag layout. Mark the approved repeat scale or placement references and any agreed variation. Ask which sample shows the assembled result. A flat artwork approval alone should not close unresolved construction or seam-matching questions.

A clear graphic starts with a clear brief. Review the colour separations, print area and material before deciding whether screen printing is the right route for your bag.
